Hal won't allow dave back into the pod because he knows he wants to disconnect him. He went through the emergency entrance. Dave says he feels better and tries to trick him into not shutting him down. He goes In his brain. Hal keeps saying his mind is going and that he is scared while Dave is shutting him down, even though he is incapable of having feelings. Casting is important - chose dave because of his eyes


At the beginning of the movie, two tribes of monkeys were fighting over a pond of water. Even though they have the same enemies, such as the tigers and other animals, they still only worry for themselves. This is also shown with Dr. Heywood. The Russians are the enemies, but they are still not willing to share the information they have even though both sides are fighting against the same people. These people were being compared to the apes presented first. 


On the ship, there is a technological crew member who is in charge of the entire ship. Hal is the brain of the ship and watches over the men while they are in hibernation. Hal says he is very confident in himself because he has never made a mistake, and those like him are “incapable of error”. This was the first red flag because whenever someone says this or talks about perfection, it is usually a sign of the opposite. The letters after HAL are from IBM. This shows how HAL is connected to IBM. HAL printed the information on a punch card, if he is so technologically advanced he should have been able to print the message in English.

In the book, “The Adventures of Pinocchio” and the movie, “AI Artificial Intelligence” both Pinoccio and David went through a lot and tried their hardest to become human. Pinocio was created as a wooden puppet who could speak, then learned to walk, and later became a real life boy. David was a Robot made with the ability to love.   “Hey, Siri what's your favorite song?” “My taste in music is rather unconventional. I doubt you’de like it.” Technology seems like a cool resource, but what if that was all we had. No more human contact or connection. Life would be so abstract, boring, and dull. Technology doesn't have feelings or emotions so how would we connect on a deeper level? We can’t. Do not get me wrong, Siri and Alexa know far more than all of us do but are they really BETTER than us? The world needs humans. Do you ever have a conversation with someone and are so invested, you can just sit there for hours without it getting dull? Alexa and Siri can’t hold a conversation for more than fifteen minutes. After a while, it seems like you are just talking to yourself. Asking Alexa to play music and what the weather is isn’t enough for us to interact with forever.
